What are Common EAF Refractory Lining Materials?
EAF Refractory Lining is usually made of alkaline refractory materials, supplemented by neutral or acidic materials, and is configured differently according to the working conditions of the parts:
Magnesium carbon brick is the core material, composed of magnesium oxide (60%~90%) and graphite (10%~30%), with strong resistance to high temperature (above 1700℃), thermal shock and slag erosion, and is used in key parts such as slag line area and furnace bottom.
Magnesium calcium brick contains magnesium oxide and calcium oxide, which can purify slag and is suitable for clean steel smelting such as stainless steel, but requires moisture-proof treatment.
High alumina brick (alumina 48%~90%) is a neutral material with good thermal shock resistance and low cost. It is used in non-critical high-temperature areas such as furnace top and steel outlet.
Amorphous materials such as ramming materials and castables are used for on-site repairs or complex structural parts.
The overall trend is towards low carbonization and long life to meet the needs of environmental protection and efficient smelting.
